LSM COMMITTEES

LSM COMMITTEES

The Ladies of St. Mulumba Nigeria from the period 1998 to date makes use of the human potential very much in abundance in the association. The following committees are used to advance the objectives of the association.

1. Finance Committee
2. Project Committee
3. Welfare Committee
4. Disciplinary Committee
5. Fund Raising Committee
6. Publication Committee
7. Activities Committee

Each committee presents an annual report to the National Executive Meeting with Metro and sub-councils’ presidents (NEMPS) for assessment, input and recommendations where necessary. NEMPS meets in March every year at Onitsha and takes necessary decisions and actions which are reported to members at the Annual National Convention which holds every October.

WELFARE

The period between 2005 and to date has witnessed a boast in the welfare activities of the Association. Through the activities of the welfare committee many Ladies and the less privileged of the society, especially widows/widowers, orphans and the poor received love, material and financial assistance, etc. They did a lot to bring Christ to the poor and the afflicted by putting smiles on their faces through charity works throughout the nation and beyond.

Recently, the Ladies embarked on activities such as empowering women and youths of the society by training them in various skills as well as providing them with funds to set up their businesses. For this, they have built a 31-room (in-suite) complex where they house participants during training. The Complex is situated in Owerri Imo State Nigeria and is called “Women and Youth Empowerment Centre Owerri (WAYECO). The Ladies also offer scholarships to the less privileged. They also extend their charity work across the border. For example:

LSM Nigeria, in charity, took up the responsibility of paying tuition fees for a young Ugandan Lady (an orphan) who dropped out of the Makerere University Kampala Ugandan because she could not afford to pay her fees.

FUNDRAISING

Fund Raising is the major activity of LSM. The members of the fundraising committee remained focused and mindful of the aims and objectives for which the committee was created. It plans and executes activities at minimum cost. The committee was able to raise unimaginable funds towards the completion of St. Mulumba Girls Secondary School (SMGSS) Benin. One of the educational institutions built by the association to educate the girl-child.
